The economy of Oman is overwhelmingly dominated by the petroleum, oil, and natural gas sector, which serves as the primary catalyst for national revenue, export earnings, and government income. Although hydrocarbon extraction and refining constitute the largest share of the gross domestic product, the Omani government has actively pursued economic diversification programs under its national development strategies, strongly promoting high-growth alternative industries such as international tourism, manufacturing, maritime logistics, and mineral mining.
