Symmons is known for inventing the pressure-balancing shower valve and for making extremely durable commercial-grade plumbing products that last decades, particularly shower valves and faucets. Symmons Industries, founded in 1939 in Braintree, Massachusetts, by Paul Symmons, is an American family-owned company headquartered in Braintree, Massachusetts, that revolutionized shower safety in the 1960s by inventing the first pressure-balancing valve that prevents scalding by balancing hot and cold water pressure when toilets flush or other fixtures run. This invention, the Symmons Temptrol, is still sold today and is considered one of the most reliable shower valves ever made, with many units lasting 30 to 50 years in hotels and homes. Symmons is known for commercial durability, its products are specified for hotels, hospitals, schools, and prisons because they withstand heavy use, have solid brass construction, and are easy to maintain. Symmons is known for Temptrol pressure-balancing valve, Origins and Elm faucet lines, and for being made in USA, family-owned, with excellent customer service and lifetime warranty. Plumbers know Symmons for fewest callbacks and for valves that can be rebuilt rather than replaced. So Symmons is known for pressure-balancing valve invention, commercial-grade durability, Temptrol, American-made quality, and long-lasting shower valves that last decades, especially in commercial settings.
