God's purpose for restoration in Bible is to bring humanity and creation back to original intended relationship and wholeness after fall, showing mercy, glory, and love, and ultimately to restore all things for His glory. Restoration purpose includes spiritual restoration, God wants to restore relationship broken by sin, reconciling people to Himself through forgiveness and grace, as in 2 Corinthians 5:18 ministry of reconciliation. Physical restoration, God wants to heal bodies and restore health, as in Jeremiah 30:17 I will restore health to you. Emotional restoration, God wants to restore joy, peace, and hope to broken hearts, as Psalm 23 says He restores my soul. Material restoration, God wants to restore what was lost or stolen, as Joel 2:25 says I will restore years locust has eaten, showing God's justice and provision. Ultimately, God's purpose for restoration is to demonstrate His power and love, to show that He can make all things new as Revelation 21:5 says, and to prepare creation for new heavens and new earth where everything is restored to perfection. Restoration also serves to testify to others of God's goodness, to bring people to repentance, and to fulfill promises. It is not just fixing past but making future better, with purpose of bringing glory to God, bringing people back to purpose, and showing that nothing is beyond God's ability to restore, whether health, relationships, or fortunes, reflecting God's character as Restorer.
