A Lennox can refer to several different things, but most commonly it refers to Lennox International, a major American HVAC company, or the name Lennox as a Scottish place and personal name. As a company, Lennox is Lennox International Inc., founded in 1895 by Dave Lennox in Marshalltown, Iowa, headquartered in Richardson, Texas, that manufactures residential and commercial heating and cooling equipment including high efficiency furnaces with AFUE up to 99 percent, central air conditioners, heat pumps, and commercial rooftop units sold through authorized dealers across North America. As a personal name, Lennox is a Scottish unisex name meaning elm grove, derived from the Lennox district in Scotland, used for boys and girls, ranking around 300 to 400 for boys in the US in recent years, with nicknames like Len, Lenny, and Nox. As a place, Lennox refers to a historic region in Scotland around Loch Lomond, known as The Lennox, with elm groves. So a Lennox could be a furnace brand known for efficiency, a person with a Scottish name meaning elm grove, or a place in Scotland, with the most common everyday use in North America being the HVAC company that makes furnaces and air conditioners competing with Trane and Carrier.
