Spraying WD-40 multi-use product up into a faucet spout or aerator provides very little benefit and can cause unintended issues. WD-40 is a petroleum-based solvent that leaves a slick, chemical residue which taints drinking water, attracts airborne dust and mineral sediment, and degrades internal rubber washers or O-rings over time. It is never an effective substitute for proper physical cleaning or descaling with white vinegar. Verification: Flush the faucet thoroughly with clean running water for two minutes if WD-40 was accidentally introduced.
