You can tell your faucet diverter valve is failing or bad if water continues spraying out of the side sprayer or pull-down wand even when you are trying to use the main spout, or if water pressure at the main spout drops significantly when the sprayer is inactive. The diverter valve redirects water flow between the spout and the sprayer; when mineral scale or worn rubber seals jam this valve, water splits improperly. Verification: Inspect and clean the diverter mechanism or replace the internal faucet cartridge assembly.
