What happened to OtterBox is nothing bad, OtterBox is still in business, thriving as leading phone case company based in Fort Collins Colorado, founded 1998, known for rugged Defender and Commuter cases, still selling phone cases, with OtterBox acquiring LifeProof in 2013 and still operating, with no bankruptcy or closure. OtterBox, founded by Curt Richardson in 1998, started making waterproof cases for electronics, then phone cases, became leading case brand, with revenue over 1 billion dollars, with OtterBox still in business as of 2026, selling cases for iPhone, Samsung, and other phones at Best Buy, Amazon, and OtterBox.com, with products including Defender, Commuter, Symmetry, and OtterBox with MagSafe. OtterBox acquired LifeProof in 2013 for waterproof cases, still owns LifeProof brand, and continues to innovate with sustainable materials and screen protectors. So what happened to OtterBox? Nothing negative, OtterBox still in business, still leading phone case brand, with OtterBox continuing to make rugged cases, with some competition from Spigen and UAG but still top brand, with OtterBox expanding to screen protectors, power banks, and other accessories, with no major change except continued growth, with OtterBox remaining private company based in Fort Collins Colorado, still offering lifetime warranty and popular cases.
