Grambling State University has successfully educated an extraordinary roster of legendary athletes, coaches, and public figures who achieved high-level national and international fame, particularly within professional football. Among its most famous alumni are Pro Football Hall of Fame defensive lineman Buck Buchanan, legendary cornerback Willie Brown, star receiver Charlie Joiner, defensive stalwart Everson Walls, and trailblazing quarterback Doug Williams, who made history as the first African American quarterback to start and win a Super Bowl, earning game MVP honors.
