What companies did GE split into is three independent companies in 2024 after breakup of General Electric conglomerate that was founded in 1892. General Electric Company, founded in 1892 in Schenectady, New York, USA, announced in 2021 that it would split into three separate publicly traded companies, completing split in 2023 to 2024. First split, GE HealthCare, spun off in January 2023, headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, USA, makes medical imaging, ultrasound, and healthcare equipment, trades as GEHC. Second, GE Aerospace, spun off in April 2024, headquartered in Evendale, Ohio, USA, makes jet engines and aerospace systems, retains GE ticker, is largest of three, focused on aviation. Third, GE Vernova, spun off in April 2024, headquartered in Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA, makes power, renewable energy, and electrification equipment including gas turbines, wind turbines, and grid solutions, trades as GEV. So GE split into GE HealthCare, GE Aerospace, and GE Vernova, three independent companies, ending 132-year-old conglomerate structure, with each focusing on its industry, with GE Aerospace keeping General Electric name legacy, all American owned and publicly traded, with GE Appliances already sold to Haier in 2016 before split, not part of split.
