No, Pergo is not the same as luxury vinyl, though Pergo now offers both laminate and luxury vinyl plank, so Pergo brand includes both product types but they are different materials. Pergo was founded in 1977 in Sweden and invented laminate flooring, which is HDF high-density fiberboard core with photographic wood layer and aluminum oxide wear layer, not waterproof but water-resistant, costing 1 to 3 dollars per square foot materials, suitable for living areas but not bathrooms. Luxury vinyl plank (LVP) is PVC vinyl core that is 100 percent waterproof, with 20 mil wear layer, realistic wood embossing, and attached pad, costing 2 to 5 dollars materials, suitable for kitchens, bathrooms, and basements. Pergo now offers both Pergo laminate which is classic laminate and Pergo Extreme which is luxury vinyl plank that is waterproof with rigid core, so Pergo brand includes both laminate and LVP. Pergo laminate is not luxury vinyl, it is laminate, while Pergo Extreme is luxury vinyl plank. Mohawk Industries owns Pergo since 2013, and Mohawk also offers SolidTech LVP which is similar to Pergo Extreme. So Pergo is not same as luxury vinyl, but Pergo offers luxury vinyl plank line called Pergo Extreme, while classic Pergo is laminate, so you need to check product name.
