Once Kilz primer has completely cured and dried, it is generally considered non-toxic for everyday residential living environments. During the initial application and drying stages, the product releases volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and chemical vapors that can cause irritation, but once the chemical off-gassing process finishes and the film hardens completely, it poses no active health hazards under normal, well-ventilated indoor conditions.
