Typically, one coat of Kilz primer is sufficient for standard surface sealing, minor color transitions, and general drywall preparation. However, if you are tackling severe challenges such as dark color changes, stubborn water stains, heavy smoke damage, or raw wood knot bleeding, applying two coats of primer is strongly recommended to ensure complete coverage and prevent bleed-through into your final paint layers.
