Primer fumes are most concentrated and potentially harmful during the actual application and the initial drying phase over the first 24 to 48 hours. However, depending on whether you used a water-based or solvent-based oil formula and how well-ventilated the space is, residual off-gassing and minor odors can linger anywhere from a few days to several weeks before completely dissipating.
