Fixing a leaking garbage disposal is generally not worth the time or expense if the leak originates directly from the main stainless steel or galvanized grinding chamber body cracking or rotting through due to internal corrosion. Replacing rubber seals, tightening loose sink flange mounting bolts, or swapping out damaged discharge tubes is worthwhile and inexpensive. However, a structural shell leak means the disposal has reached the end of its lifespan and must be fully replaced.
