Encountering a P1 error code on many residential air conditioning systems or mini-split units typically indicates an issue related to the indoor unit's power supply, communication faults, or a condensate high-water level float switch activation. To reset a P1 error code and clear the system fault, you must first turn off the air conditioner using your handheld remote control. Next, shut off the dedicated electrical disconnect box or trip the circuit breaker in your main electrical panel that powers the indoor unit. Leave all electrical power completely disconnected for approximately five to ten minutes to allow internal capacitors to discharge fully and clear the computer memory. Restore power at the breaker panel and turn the system back on. You can verify that the reset was successful when the P1 code disappears from the display screen and normal cooling resumes.
