Fixing an E1 error code on a ductless mini-split air conditioning system requires systematic inspection of the low-voltage communication wiring and control boards. First, turn off the main electrical power to both the indoor and outdoor units at your home's circuit breaker panel to prevent electrical shock. Second, remove the front cover of the indoor wall cassette and the electrical access panel of the outdoor condenser to expose the communication wire terminals. Third, inspect all wires for looseness, oxidation, or cuts, re-stripping and tightening every connection securely into its designated terminal block. Fourth, perform a hard electrical reboot by leaving power disconnected for ten minutes. You can troubleshoot wiring with a multimeter. You can verify that your fix was successful when powering the system back on clears the E1 code and restores normal operation.
