How long should you unplug your dryer to reset it, recommended time is 5 to 10 minutes minimum to allow control board capacitors to fully discharge and clear temporary errors and memory. For Samsung dryers and most brands, unplugging for 1 minute may not be enough to reset electronics, so 5 minutes is standard recommendation in manual. For thorough reset, unplug dryer from wall outlet or turn off circuit breaker at electrical panel for 10 to 15 minutes, this ensures complete power drain from control board and clears error codes like 9C1, HE, or random shut off. Some technicians recommend 30 minutes for stubborn errors. After unplugging, press and hold Power button for 5 seconds while unplugged to discharge residual power. Then plug back in and press Power to turn on. If dryer has thermal fuse trip, unplugging alone will not reset fuse, you must replace fuse after cleaning vent. For gas dryers, same 5 to 10 minutes applies. If error persists after power reset, run diagnostic mode to check for hardware failure. So unplug for at least 5 minutes, ideally 10 minutes for effective reset.
