While an accurate mechanical pressure gauge attached to a hose bibb is best, you can estimate water pressure without one through observation. Observe how high a stream shoots from an outdoor spigot when opened wide, or time how many seconds it takes to fill a one-gallon bucket from your kitchen sink. If a standard sink bucket fills in less than six seconds, your pressure and flow rate are generally adequate; if it takes twenty seconds or more, your pressure is likely low. Verification: Compare flow speeds across multiple fixtures to identify whether low pressure affects your entire home.
