70 percent tint is very light and is almost clear, not dark at all, and most people would barely notice it is there. Tint percentage is measured as Visible Light Transmission or VLT, which is the percentage of visible light that passes through the glass and film combined. A lower VLT means darker tint because less light passes through, while a higher VLT means lighter tint. So 5 percent tint is very dark limo tint allowing only 5 percent light, 20 percent is dark, 35 percent is medium, 50 percent is light, and 70 percent is very light, allowing 70 percent of light through and blocking only 30 percent. Visually, 70 percent tint looks like a slight grayish or bluish haze on the glass, barely darker than clear factory glass, which is typically around 75 to 85 percent VLT without any film. During the day, you can see inside easily, and from inside, visibility is almost unaffected day or night. However, high-quality 70 percent ceramic films can still provide significant benefits like blocking 99 percent of UV rays and up to 50 percent or more of infrared heat without darkening windows noticeably. This is why 70 percent is the only tint legally allowed on front side windows in strict states like California and is often used on windshields for heat rejection.
