Standard homeowners insurance policies almost never cover concrete lifting, slab settling, or mudjacking costs. Insurance companies classify ground settling, soil compaction issues, and normal wear and tear as homeowner maintenance responsibilities. Coverage is provided only if the concrete damage is directly caused by a sudden, explicitly insured peril, such as a major plumbing pipe burst beneath the slab.
