Air movers do not cool a room in the way an air conditioner does, they actually can make a room feel slightly warmer over time, though they can make people feel cooler through wind chill. Air movers are high-velocity fans designed to circulate large volumes of air across floors, walls, and carpets to speed evaporation after water damage. Unlike air conditioners that remove heat and humidity from the air, air movers simply move existing air around and the electric motors generate a small amount of heat as they run. In a closed room without dehumidification or AC, running several air movers can actually raise the air temperature by a few degrees because of motor heat and increased evaporation that adds moisture to the air. However, for a person standing in the airflow, the moving air increases evaporation of sweat from skin, creating a wind chill effect that makes you feel cooler, similar to a regular fan. In water damage restoration, air movers are always paired with dehumidifiers, the air mover pushes wet air off surfaces and the dehumidifier removes that moisture and cools the air slightly as it condenses water. So alone, an air mover will not lower room temperature and may slightly increase it, but it improves comfort through air movement and is essential for drying because warm moving air holds more moisture and speeds evaporation. If your goal is to cool a room, you need air conditioning or ventilation with cooler outside air, not just air movers.
