According to a finalized parenting plan, Kidman has custody for 306 days a year, while Urban has custody for 59 days and can spend every other weekend with them .

In an interview with Extra, Kidman explained that she declined the chance to spend leisure time with her cast and crew, choosing instead to fly home whenever possible . "I go home to my family. I've got one child in junior year and one who's a freshman. So, I was like, 'Okay, I got to be there taking care,' you know? Multitasking, right?" she said .

Her co-star Zoe Saldana confirmed this commitment, noting that while the rest of the cast had bonded and did everything together, Kidman's routine was different. "Nicole would [have joined us] if she was there, but as soon as Nicole finishes, she flies home to her family," Saldana said . "And it's so beautiful to see, too" .
