One woman, identified as Clara, alleges she had under-age sex with Leto at his California home when she was 17 and he was 34. She recalls Leto shrugging off a conversation about California's age of consent being 18. Clara told the BBC, "He told me, 'I would like you to call me daddy.' And it was either pretend to be a little girl or 'my little girl.'" She described herself as "so naive and vulnerable" at the time, only later realizing "how scary that really was."

Sexual Assault in a Las Vegas Motel

Isabel, now in her 40s, describes a sexual assault that she says took place in 2002 when she was 17. After meeting Leto and his friends at the Las Vegas store where she worked, she was invited to what she believed was his hotel, which turned out to be a "dingy gross motel." She says Leto called her into the bathroom while he was showering, pulled her in, and kissed her, then grabbed her hand and used it to masturbate himself. "Most of my life I had viewed this event as, I was a stupid girl… and so this bad thing happened," she said.

Threat of Sexual Assault in a London Hotel

Another woman, Alex, a former model who was 19 at the time, claims Leto threatened her with sexual assault in a London hotel room after a 2013 concert. She says she had told him she was 17 to "protect herself," to which Leto replied, "Age is just a number, and anyway, we're in Europe." After an assistant lured her to his hotel room, she found herself alone with him. When she asked to sleep on a chaise lounge because she had no way home, Alex alleges Leto repeatedly told her she would wake up "with a dick in her ass." She realized "I'm not safe" and left.

Grooming and Explicit Phone Calls

Etta, who was 16, says Leto began grooming her after they met in 2014, making repeated sexually explicit phone calls and suggesting they have sex. She was later sent a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) to prevent her from discussing the relationship, which she refused to sign. Four other women also reported receiving strange and sexual phone calls from Leto when they were teenagers.

Documentary Evidence and Corroboration

The BBC documentary corroborated several accounts with friends and family who were told of the encounters at the time. In some cases, pictures and messages were also reviewed. Two former crew members who worked with Leto's band described a workplace culture where teenage girls were frequently invited backstage and to his recording spaces, with one stating, "I think everyone thought the age gap was way too big."

Leto's Denial and Response

Jared Leto has categorically denied all allegations. In a statement to US media following the documentary's release, he said: "I have never sexually assaulted anyone in my entire life. These claims are absolutely and categorically false." This denial echoes his response to similar allegations made by nine women in a 2025 Air Mail article, which his representatives also "expressly" denied. The BBC reported that Leto did not respond to their repeated requests for comment prior to publication.

These allegations are the latest in a long history of claims against Leto. The BBC counted more than 120 separate allegations online relating to his behavior towards women. Last year, Los Angeles DJ Allie Teilz publicly claimed she was assaulted by Leto when she was 17, prompting other women to come forward.
