The standalone bag's disappearance left a void that generic alternatives, including Aldi's popular Dominion Naturals Bananas, attempted to fill until they too vanished from shelves earlier this year .

Now, Allen's has responded to what it describes as "strong consumer demand" by bringing back the fan favourite in its own dedicated packet . An Allen's spokesperson told nine.com.au: "From time to time, we bring back fan favourites, such as Bananas in their own bags, when there is strong consumer demand" .

Mixed Reactions from Fans

The news of the Banana lolly's return has sparked a wave of nostalgia and debate among Australian consumers. While many are overjoyed, some fans expressed frustration at the long wait, with one shopper commenting: "You lost me. You waited too long. I eat the Lifesaver ones now" . However, these comeback lollies are only available for a limited time and at different supermarkets. Allen's Green Frogs, Black Cats, Mad About Teeth, and Spearmint Leaves will be available from Woolworths nationwide, while the Bananas are exclusive to Coles .

What Else Is Missing?

While these returns are cause for celebration, some Allen's favourites remain missing from supermarket shelves in standalone form . Standalone bags of Black Cats were discontinued in February, and Nestle Fantales, which were discontinued in 2023, are not planned to make a return . Nestle cited "declining sales and the significant investment needed to continue to make them" as reasons for keeping Fantales off the shelves .

Meanwhile, Aldi has confirmed that its popular Dominion Naturals Bananas version will also return to shelves later this year after a short hiatus, alongside the much-loved Choceur Peanut Butter Chocolate block .
