Yes, cockroaches will crawl in your bed, though they do not prefer to live in beds like bed bugs do, and they usually end up there accidentally while foraging for food crumbs, moisture, or warmth, so finding them in beds indicates a nearby infestation that should be addressed. German cockroaches, which are small light brown about half an inch with two dark stripes common in kitchens and bathrooms, and American cockroaches, large reddish brown about one and a half inches often called palmetto bugs, are nocturnal and active at night searching for food, and if you eat in bed or have crumbs, food residues, sweat, or skin oils on sheets, they may climb onto beds attracted by those odors, plus they are attracted to warmth from bodies and may seek shelter in mattresses. They typically hide during day in dark places like under beds, inside headboards, in box springs, behind baseboards, and in clutter around bedroom, especially if bedroom is near kitchen or has moisture. While cockroaches rarely bite humans, they can crawl on sleeping people, contaminate bedding with bacteria like salmonella from sewers, and their droppings, shed skins, and saliva contain allergenic proteins that can trigger allergies and asthma, especially in children and sensitive individuals. Seeing roaches in beds is more likely in severe infestations where overcrowding forces them to explore new areas, with daytime sightings indicating large hidden population. To prevent roaches in beds, do not eat in bedroom, wash bedding regularly in hot water, vacuum under bed and headboard, store food sealed, fix leaks, seal cracks with caulk, reduce clutter, and use gel baits containing fipronil placed under sinks and behind appliances rather than in bed.
