Is it better to see baby roaches or big ones? It is generally worse to see baby roaches than big ones, as seeing baby roaches, which are nymphs, indicates breeding population and nest nearby. Big cockroaches, often adult American cockroaches, may be occasional invaders from outside or sewer, possibly single intruder, though still concern. Baby roaches, small light brown with no wings, suggest eggs have hatched indoors, meaning infestation is established and reproducing, often German cockroaches which are common indoor pest that breeds rapidly. Seeing many small roaches means colony is present and growing, requiring more intensive treatment. Seeing one or two large roaches may be less severe, possibly stray from outdoors, but if large ones are seen frequently, also indicates infestation. So better to see occasional big one than many baby ones, as babies indicate active breeding and larger hidden population. Both require action, but baby roaches signal need for thorough cleaning, baiting, and professional pest control to eliminate nest.
