Do roaches come out during the day?

Do roaches come out during the day? Roaches typically do not come out during day, as they are nocturnal and prefer darkness, hiding in cracks, crevices, behind appliances, and under sinks during daylight to avoid light and human activity. However, roaches may come out during day if infestation is heavy, food is scarce at night, or they are disturbed, or if they are sick or poisoned. German cockroaches, common indoor species, rarely come out in daylight unless population is large and overcrowded, forcing some to forage in day. American cockroaches may wander in day if seeking water. Seeing roaches during day often indicates significant infestation, as normally they would stay hidden. If you see them in day, it suggests many more hidden. So while they can come out during day, it is not typical behavior and usually signals problem. Daytime sightings warrant thorough inspection, cleaning, and treatment, as it means hiding spots are full or food source is so abundant they forage anytime.
