A bee will generally not chase you if you run unless you have disturbed its hive or nest, because most bees are not aggressive and do not seek out humans to chase, but social bees like honeybees and bumblebees will defend colony and may chase intruder who disturbs hive for short distance to drive threat away. If you are foraging bee away from hive, it will not chase you if you run, it will usually ignore you and continue foraging, as it is focused on collecting nectar and pollen, not on humans. However, if you disturb honeybee hive or bumblebee nest, guard bees may chase you for 50 to 100 meters, sometimes more, releasing alarm pheromones that alert other bees to danger and cause them to become aggressive and chase, so running away quickly in straight line away from hive is recommended to escape. Bees are not fast fliers over long distances and will stop chasing once you are far enough from hive and they no longer perceive you as threat. To avoid being chased, avoid disturbing nests, move slowly near bees, do not swat, and if you are stung, move away quickly as venom contains alarm pheromone that attracts more bees. So bee will chase only if defending hive, not if you simply run from foraging bee, and chase distance is limited to area around nest, not miles.
