Who makes Rheem furnaces is Rheem Manufacturing Company, which is owned by Paloma Industries, Japanese company, and manufactures furnaces in Fort Smith, Arkansas for US market, same as Rheem AC units. Rheem Manufacturing Company was founded in 1925 in Emeryville, California by Richard Rheem, originally making steel drums, then expanded into water heaters and HVAC in 1950s. In 1988, Paloma Industries, Nagoya, Japan, acquired Rheem Manufacturing Company for about 1 billion dollars. Rheem Manufacturing now headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, manufactures Rheem furnaces including Classic R92 single stage, Classic Plus R96V two-stage variable speed, and Prestige R98V modulating in Fort Smith, Arkansas plant that employs over 1,000 workers and produces about 500,000 HVAC units per year, with some components sourced globally from Mexico and China, but final assembly in US. Rheem also manufactures Ruud brand furnaces that are sister brand with identical internals but different badge, both made in same Fort Smith plant, similar to Trane and American Standard sharing factory in Tyler, Texas. Rheem Manufacturing also makes water heaters in Montgomery, Alabama. Daikin owns Goodman and Amana, not Rheem. Trane is owned by Trane Technologies, Carrier by Carrier Global, Lennox by Lennox International. So manufacturer is Rheem Manufacturing Company owned by Paloma Industries, with US production in Arkansas.
