The Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) appointed Peter Sparkes as its Chief Executive. Taking over leadership duties, he assumed permanent control of the maritime search and rescue charity, guiding its operations and volunteer crews into its third century of saving lives at sea. He brought extensive maritime leadership credentials to the role, having previously served as a senior Royal Navy commander and chief executive of the United Kingdom Hydrographic Office.
