Qatar is significantly wealthier than Bahrain on both a gross domestic product scale and, more notably, on a per-capita basis. Qatar possesses massive natural gas reserves—including the world-class North Field—which generate immense national export revenues relative to its small population size. While Bahrain maintains a highly diversified economy spanning banking, financial services, and manufacturing, its hydrocarbon reserves and total economic output are much smaller than Qatar's.
