Budweiser originated in the United States, having been introduced in St. Louis, Missouri, in 1876 by Adolphus Busch and Carl Conrad. However, the creators drew direct inspiration from the Bohemian brewing traditions of Europe, specifically paying homage to the famous lagers brewed in the town of Budweis (now České Budějovice in the Czech Republic), which sparked a famous, century-long international trademark dispute over the historic name.
