Acromegaly is a rare hormonal disorder caused by the pituitary gland producing excessive growth hormone during adulthood, famously associated in basketball history with former NBA player George Muresan. Standing an incredible seven feet seven inches tall, Muresan suffered from a pituitary tumor that caused his gigantism and related medical conditions. Despite these physical challenges, he enjoyed a productive professional career in the NBA playing for the Washington Bullets and winning the league's Most Improved Player Award in 1996.
