The most common problem with LG washing machines, covering both front-load and top-load models, is drainage and unbalanced load errors, specifically error codes OE, 0E, UE, and uE. The OE error occurs when the washer fails to drain water within 8 to 10 minutes. This is most often caused by a clogged drain pump filter, also called the coin trap, which collects lint, coins, bobby pins, small socks, and detergent sludge. A kinked or frozen drain hose or a faulty drain pump can also trigger it. For top-load models, the UE error is extremely common and means the load is unbalanced, causing the washer to stop spinning and try to redistribute clothes. This happens when washing a single heavy item like a bath mat, overloading beyond capacity, or if the machine is not perfectly level. The second most common category is odor and mold buildup, especially on front-load door gaskets, caused by leaving the door closed, using too much non-HE detergent, and washing only in cold water. Other less frequent but reported issues include water inlet valve failure causing slow fill or IE error, excessive vibration if shipping bolts were not removed or floor is not solid, and occasional control board or lid lock failures after many years.
