Leaving CLR (Calcium, Lime, and Rust remover) or any strong industrial descaling chemical on metal fixtures for too long can cause severe chemical pitting, corrosion, discoloration, and permanent damage to chrome, brass, bronze, or decorative PVD finishes. Because CLR contains strong acids, it should only be applied briefly to dissolve mineral scale and rinsed thoroughly with clean water within the recommended timeframe. Verification: Inspect the metal finish immediately after rinsing to ensure zero discoloration or pitting has occurred.
