Spraying standard WD-40 multi-use product into a toilet bowl or tank offers very limited utility and can cause problems. While it can temporarily displace moisture on metal flush linkages or quiet a squeaky flush handle, WD-40 is petroleum-based and will degrade, swell, or dissolve rubber components like tank flappers and seals over time. Furthermore, it leaves an oily residue on porcelain that attracts dirt and fails to clean hard water scale or clogs. Verification: Avoid using petroleum lubricants on rubber plumbing parts and use soapy water for cleaning porcelain instead.
