According to Consumer Reports latest testing, the best front-load washers are led by LG models, with several other brands close behind in the Recommended list. Consumer Reports rates washers on washing performance, water and energy efficiency, noise, vibration, capacity, and predicted reliability and owner satisfaction. Their top overall picks for 2025-2026 include the LG WM4000HWA and WM4000HVA, which scored Excellent for washing performance and Very Good for energy efficiency, and the LG WM3400CVB as a best value compact option. Other highly rated models include the Samsung WF45B6300AW and Electrolux ELFW7637AT for excellent stain removal and large capacity. Miele models like the WXR860 receive top scores for gentleness and longevity but are premium priced. Consumer Reports also highlights the Maytag MFW7020RW and Whirlpool WFW5605MC as reliable American-made alternatives. They specifically advise avoiding washers with poor predicted reliability and note that LG consistently has the highest owner satisfaction for front-loaders, with fewer mold and odor complaints than average when users follow maintenance advice.
