People are saying generally very positive things about Malarkey Vista shingles, with contractors and homeowners praising its durability, impact resistance, and color appearance. Malarkey Vista is the entry-level premium architectural shingle with Flexor SBS polymer-modified asphalt, and reviewers frequently mention its Class 4 impact resistance rating, the highest for hail, which provides peace of mind in hail-prone areas and may qualify for insurance discounts. Homeowners note that Vista shingles look thick and dimensional with rich, vibrant colors and high contrast shadow lines that enhance curb appeal. Contractors praise Vista for its flexibility in cold weather, as polymer-modified asphalt allows installation in colder temperatures without cracking and reduces cracking over time, plus good granule retention. Many mention Scotchgard Protector algae protection from 3M with lifetime algae warranty that prevents black streaks better than standard algae protection. Common positive comments include quiet performance in wind due to good sealing, and sustainability aspect of using upcycled rubber and plastic. Some complaints include higher cost at 120 to 150 dollars per square materials compared to GAF Timberline, and slightly smaller contractor network than GAF or Owens Corning. Overall, owner satisfaction is high for those prioritizing impact resistance and cold weather performance.
