If your garage door roller has slipped off the track, you can fix it by safely guiding the roller back into the track channel, but you must take precautions because the door is heavy and can fall. First, stop using the automatic opener and pull the red emergency release cord to disconnect the trolley so you can move the door manually without opener strain. Close the door if possible; if it is stuck open, securely clamp locking pliers or C-clamps onto the tracks just below the rollers on both sides to prevent the door from falling, as doors weigh 150 to 300 pounds. Inspect why roller slipped, such as loose track bolts, bent track, worn roller, or broken cable causing imbalance. Loosen the track mounting bolts slightly with a wrench, just enough to allow you to gently pry the track open with a flat pry bar or screwdriver to create space. With help, lift the door evenly and guide the slipped roller back into the track channel, ensuring the roller stem seats properly into the hinge. If the track is slightly bent, gently tap it straight with a rubber mallet. Once roller is inside, tighten track bolts securely, ensure track is plumb and spaced correctly. Lubricate rollers with silicone lubricant and test door manually by lifting halfway to check balance. If multiple rollers off, tracks severely bent, or cables broken, call professional for repair costing 150 to 400 dollars, as door can be dangerous.
