Whirlpool refrigerators do not have a dedicated physical reset button like a small red button you press, but you can reset them through power cycling and control panel button combinations. The most effective reset is a hard power reset: turn the refrigerator off using the control panel if it has a Power button, then unplug it from the wall outlet or turn off the circuit breaker that supplies it, and leave it unplugged for at least 5 to 10 minutes to allow the main control board capacitors to discharge and clear memory. This often clears temporary electronic glitches, ice maker errors, and temperature sensor errors. After waiting, plug it back in and it will beep and display PF for power failure, press any button to clear. For control panel reset, press and hold the Water Filter and Light buttons together for 3 seconds, or press and hold Power for 3 seconds depending on model. To reset ice maker, locate ice maker, remove cover, press and hold the small square reset button under it for 3 seconds until it beeps and starts harvesting. To reset water filter indicator, press and hold Water Filter button for 3 seconds. For diagnostic mode reset, some models use pressing and holding Temp and Lock buttons for 3 seconds. A reset will not fix mechanical failures like a failed compressor, fan motor, or water inlet valve but often clears electronic glitches after power outage.
