To reboot your refrigerator, you perform a hard power reset that clears electronic glitches and restarts the control system. First, turn off the refrigerator using the power button on the control panel if it has one, or set both fresh food and freezer to warmest setting. Second, unplug the refrigerator from the wall outlet, or turn off the circuit breaker that supplies it if it is hardwired. If you cannot reach the plug because fridge is heavy, turn off breaker. Third, wait 5 to 10 minutes to allow the main control board, display board, and inverter board capacitors to fully discharge and clear memory. While waiting, press and hold the power button for 5 seconds to drain residual charge and clean condenser coils with a vacuum if accessible at bottom or back. Fourth, plug the refrigerator back in or turn breaker back on, it will beep and may display PF for power failure, press any button to clear. Fifth, reset temperature settings to 37 degrees Fahrenheit for fridge and 0 degrees for freezer, and reset clock if needed. Allow 2 to 4 hours for freezer to reach 0 and 4 to 6 hours for fridge to reach 37, keep doors closed. For ice maker, press and hold its reset button for 3 seconds after reboot. Rebooting fixes temporary electronic glitches after power outage but will not fix mechanical failures like failed compressor or fan motor.
