There have been recalls on GE washers over the years, though most current 2023-2026 models are not under recall, and you should check your specific model. The most significant recall was GE top-load washers manufactured 2010-2018 models like GTW465ASNWW, GTW680BSJWS, and GTW720BSNWS where washer could vibrate excessively during spin and walk across floor causing injury or damage, remedy was free repair with reinforced suspension and control board update. Another recall involved GE front-load washers manufactured 2008-2012 where door lock could fail and cause fire hazard due to overheating. Earlier recall in 2010 involved GE washers with certain control boards that could overheat. To check if your GE washer is currently under recall, locate model and serial number on back or under lid, then enter it at geappliances.com/recall or cpsc.gov/Recalls, or call GE Appliances at 1-800-432-2737. Always register appliance at geappliances.com to receive recall notifications. If your washer is under recall, GE will provide free repair or replacement parts. Most 2023-2026 GE washers are not under recall, but check regularly as CPSC updates list and class action settlements may provide extended warranty. Also check for inlet valve recall that could cause flooding.
