Shein is not based in the USA, though it has a large presence and operations in the United States. Shein was founded in 2008 in Nanjing, China, by entrepreneur Chris Xu, originally under the name ZZKKO and later SheInside. Its early operations and supply chain were entirely based in China, particularly in the Guangzhou region where most of its supplier factories are located. In recent years, Shein moved its official headquarters to Singapore for business and regulatory reasons, and it is now legally headquartered there. However, Shein has major operations around the world, including significant offices, warehouses, and distribution centers in the United States, particularly in Los Angeles, California, where it has a large office, and warehouses in several US states to speed up shipping to American customers. The United States is one of Shein's largest markets, so it has invested heavily in US logistics and marketing. Despite its US presence, the company is not an American company and is not headquartered in the USA. It is a Singapore-based company with Chinese origins and global operations, including in the US, Europe, and other regions.
