Biologically speaking, an ibex is a wild goat belonging to the genus Capra, making it much more closely related to domestic goats than to rams (which are male sheep belonging to the genus Ovis). Ibex are famous for their rugged build, distinctive long curving horns ridged with transverse knots, and extraordinary agility on steep, rocky mountain slopes across Europe, Asia, and Northeast Africa.
