Whether ADT is worth it depends on what you value most in a home security system. ADT's biggest strength is its legacy and infrastructure: over 150 years in business, six redundant monitoring centers in the US, professionally trained agents, and a very fast response history. If you want true hands-off, 24/7 professional monitoring where someone else calls police, fire, or medical for you, ADT is one of the most reliable names, and its integration with Google Nest cameras, doorbells, and smart locks has improved significantly. The downsides are cost and contracts. ADT is considerably more expensive than DIY competitors like SimpliSafe, Ring Alarm, or Abode, both monthly and for installation. Many plans still require a 36-month contract, and cancellation can be difficult. The app and equipment, while improved, are often considered less innovative than newer tech-first companies. ADT is worth it if you prioritize brand trust, professional installation, and always-on monitoring over price and flexibility. If you are budget-conscious, tech-savvy, and prefer no contract, a DIY system will likely offer better value.
