Trying to force an air conditioner to stay on continuously when it is shutting down on its own is generally not recommended because those automatic shutdowns are safety protections designed to prevent catastrophic equipment damage. If your AC keeps turning off, it is usually reacting to a critical issue such as an overheating compressor, frozen evaporator coils caused by restricted airflow, dangerous refrigerant pressure levels, or an overflowing condensate drain line triggering a safety float switch. Bypassing these safety mechanisms can destroy your compressor motor, cause electrical fires, or flood your home. However, if you simply want your system to run longer cooling cycles rather than short cycling, you should check for clogged air filters, ensure your thermostat is set correctly, and verify that your system is properly sized for your living space.
