Kwikset electronic keypad and smart locks do not come with a single universal default user code pre-programmed for unlocking the door, for security reasons. However, many models feature a default master programming code (frequently listed in the quick-start installation manual or printed on a sticker attached to the interior components) used strictly for setting up new user codes. If your lock has been previously used and you do not know the master code, you must perform a factory reset to clear old settings.
