In Greek mythology, Zeus and Aphrodite have a complex relationship, and yes, there are myths where Zeus pursued Aphrodite, but Aphrodite generally resisted or was not his primary consort. Aphrodite is the goddess of love, beauty, and sexuality, and according to Hesiod's Theogony, she was born from sea foam after Cronus cut off Uranus's genitals, making her older than Zeus. In other traditions, she is the daughter of Zeus and Dione. As the goddess of love, Aphrodite had many lovers including Ares, Adonis, and Anchises, but Zeus was not one of her main lovers in most canonical myths. In fact, Homer's Iliad describes Zeus as Aphrodite's father in one version, which would make a sexual relationship taboo even by Greek myth standards. However, in some later myths and poetic traditions, Zeus did attempt to seduce Aphrodite, and she, using her powers, was able to resist or trick him. In one story, Zeus pursued Aphrodite but she was already in love with others. The more famous stories of Zeus sleeping with goddesses involve Hera, his wife, Leto mother of Apollo and Artemis, Maia mother of Hermes, and many mortal women like Leda, Europa, and Danae. Aphrodite's most famous affair was with Ares, the god of war, which was discovered by her husband Hephaestus. So while Zeus slept with many goddesses and mortals, his relationship with Aphrodite was more father-daughter or adversarial than sexual in most major myths.
