Comparing salaries between ICE special agents and local police officers depends heavily on geographic location, municipal department pay scales, and federal GS pay grades. Generally, federal ICE agents start on the General Schedule (GS-7 to GS-12) with locality pay and federal benefits that often match or exceed starting local police salaries, and federal positions frequently include generous law enforcement availability pay (LEAP).
