Standard dish soaps like Dawn are formulated to cut grease and clean everyday dishware, but they are not specialized remediation products designed to neutralize or safely capture hazardous microscopic lead dust. Cleaning lead dust requires specialized disposable wet cleaning wipes or strong trisodium phosphate (TSP) detergent solutions engineered to bind heavy metal particles. Using ordinary dish soap without proper HEPA containment can inadvertently spread toxic lead residue rather than effectively eliminating it.
